Diseases often lead to progressive muscle weakness and the need for various assistive equipment. Some diseases are also associated with changes in the function of other organs, such as the heart, lungs, or central nervous system. Most of these diseases are hereditary and some develop through immune mediation or as a result of an inflammatory process. At the moment, nearly 800 different neuromyopathies have been identified, which have been further divided into 16 different disease groups. Many neuromyopathies affect your mobility and functional capacity. Diseases range from mild to severe, symptoms can appear at different ages and they can have a lot of individual variability.
