  # For Collaborators

Our facilities are designed for clinical vaccine research. We operate within the Meilahti hospital area as part of HUS, enabling various solutions to serve vaccine research.

## As part of Finland's largest hospital we offer a multitude of benefits

- Excellent location in Helsinki at the Meilahti hospital area
- Serving a population of 2.2 million in the operational area
- Approximately 700,000 patients treated annually within HUS
- As HUS offers the whole of Finland specialty care for rare and demanding diseases, special population groups can be included in the studies
- HUS hospitals handle around 16,000 deliveries annually, enabling expectant mothers and young children to be reached by targeted invitations to studies
- With 27,000 research-friendly and healthy employees, HUS can motivate participation through internal communication channels
- Depending on the current needs, specialist doctors and other experts from all medical specialties can be requested to participate in research

## Patient Information System Benefits Research

- Precise data can be extracted from the Apotti (EPIC) patient information system
- Real-time data on hospital admissions can be used to closely monitor the study participants’ health status
- Electronic consent can be requested and signed on the Terveyskylä Omapolku portal
- Samples can be obtained through the hospital laboratory’s (HUSLAB) sample storage

## Storage of Vaccines and Samples

- Stored at either +4°C, -20°C, or -80°C
- Equipment temperatures are monitored
- Backup power-connected refrigeration ensures reliable storage for vaccines and samples

## Sample Collection

- Blood, urine, and stool samples, as well as skin and mucous membrane swabs and skin biopsies, can be collected at the centre
- Samples are processed and stored at the centre
