We are here to support you at the start of your treatments and during them. We will help you find the necessary support services also at the end of your treatment and during the cancer treatment follow-up and monitoring period.  Getting cancer at a young age is very rare. You may be wondering what a cancer diagnosis means in different areas of your everyday life: what kind of impact the disease and treatments have on your body and mental wellbeing, close relationships, finances and studies, or working life. In addition to medical treatment for cancer, we offer psychosocial support, counseling and guidance that takes into account a young person’s age and special needs. The Comprehensive Cancer Center employs a service instructor for young adults who is also an expert in psychosocial support and rehabilitation. Service guidance is part of the care and rehabilitation support package for young adults. ## Our services for adolescents and young adults ### Support for patients diagnosed with cancer between the ages of 16 and 25 and who are treated at the Comprehensive Cancer Center --- A service instructor will support you at the beginning of cancer treatment, during it, and at the end of treatment when moving on to the follow-up and monitoring period. You will meet the instructor for the first time at the start of your treatment during the first few weeks. With the service instructor, you can discuss matters that concern you and get information about different forms of support that could be useful in your changed life situation. The aim is to work together to find the right support services for your needs, both inside and outside the hospital. The service instructor performs multi-professional cooperation with different actors. The service is confidential and free of charge and forms a part of the care package for young adults. ### Telephone counseling for cancer patients aged 16–39 and their loved ones --- Counseling via telephone provides you and your loved ones with support and information about existing services and guidance in applying for them. Calling a telephone counseling service and talking to a service instructor for young adults can help you understand your situation and what forms of support and services might be most suitable for you. Telephone counseling is open on Tuesdays from 12.30 to 2.30 p.m. at 040 621 6213. The telephone service is closed on holidays.
