In 2022, we granted 708 research permits, of which 300 for new research projects. There were 1,200 ongoing studies as at the end of the year under review. ## [ Improvement of research services ](/en/about-us/annual-reports/hus-year-2022/research-education-and-development/hus-year-2022-improvement) We offer our researchers services for research, degree thesis and data access permits, research funding, research agreements and publicity. Read more on the improvement of research services  ## [ Teaching and training ](/en/about-us/annual-reports/hus-year-2022/research-education-and-development/hus-year-2022-teaching-and) Nearly 4,000 students at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Helsinki studied at HUS in 2022. There were also more than 5,000 students from vocational education and training institutions and from universities of applied sciences on internships. International cooperation increased in 2022.
