The determination of the gene variants that affect pharmacotherapy can be used to help select pharmacotherapy, reduce the risk of adverse reactions to pharmacotherapy, and improve the effectiveness of treatments. The Guide on Pharmacogenetics provides more information on the effect of the genome on the efficacy and safety of pharmacotherapy.
