We treat patients from all around Finland. Examinations and treatment are sought from the HUS specific catchment area and elsewhere in Finland with a referral from the treating physician.  We provide assessment and treatment of difficult-to-manage epilepsy utilizing the special expertise of a multiprofessional team. Our special expertise includes treatments, such as epilepsy surgery, neuromodulation/stimulator therapies, dietary therapies and orphan drug treatments, as well as examination methods, such as intracranial recording, MEG, and navigated TMS. In addition to treating patients, we conduct high-quality scientific research, development work associated with rare treatments, and we also organize training related to epilepsy. Most patients with epilepsy are treated in the pediatric neurology and neurology outpatient clinics of their area’s regional or central hospitals.
